Welcome to Year 1’s Blog

Hello,

We hope you had a lovely half term and it is nice to see all the children back in the classroom.

This week in Maths, we are focusing on the properties of 2D shapes such as, triangles, rectangles, squares and circles and 3D shapes such as, cuboids, cubes, cones, prisms and pyramids.

Next week, we will be describing fireworks using adjectives in Literacy. Over the weekend, we would be grateful if you could use vocabulary linked to fireworks, including what they look like, what they sound like and the smell of them.

This week and next week in Phonics, we are concentrating on the ‘oe’ sound, including ‘ow, o and oa’. Words such as: goat, coat, go, so, slow, snow, blow and boat.

Please ensure PE kits are named and are in school everyday.

Also, please make sure children have their homework books in school by Wednesday every week, so we can send the new spellings home on Thursday.
